Zinsser Bin Aqua Stain-Blocking Primer White
B-I-N Aqua is a high-performance white-pigmented low-odour water-based, synthetic shellac-based knot block primer and sealer that combines fast drying times with unrivalled adhesion and best possible coverage.
RECOMMENDED USE
- Priming Interiors - Use as a full-surface primer on wood panels, building boards, doors, frames, PVC, plywood, concrete, glossy paint and varnish and other paintable surfaces.
- Spot-Priming - B-I-N Aqua is excellent for exterior spot priming of knots, resin, rust stains etc. B-I-N Aqua is also ideal for interior spot priming of water stains and puttied surfaces. Note that the primer on spot-primed areas with a porous surface may show through if the topcoat has bad coverage. This also applies to many ceiling paints and shiny enamels – only use a topcoat with good coverage.
- Sealing - B-I-N Aqua penetrates and seals porous surfaces and dries to a smooth finish with excellent hiding properties. The paint gets better coverage and a more uniform shine, which makes B-I-N Aqua an excellent primer for enamel. Ideal for wood, new cured plaster, concrete and concrete block, stucco, drywall, joint compound, uncoated wallcovering, and other porous surfaces.
- Stain & Odour Blocking - B-I-N Aqua will effectively block stains from water, nicotine, grease, oil, soot, rust, mildew, tannin, crayon and lipstick. B-I-N Aqua is also an outstanding odour barrier and blocks all kinds of odour, including odour from fire damage, smoke, cigars & cigarettes, mildew, pet urine, odour from fireplaces and heaters.
- Fire Damage - Replace severely charred substrates and remove loose soot and other contaminants with dry chemical sponge or duster. Prime damaged surfaces with B-I-N Aqua to block smoke stains, water stains, and seal odours.
- Knots & Sap Streaks - Seal knots and resin with one or two coats of B-I-N Aqua. If the wood is new, two coats are recommended.
- Glossy Surfaces - Glossy enamel paint and clear finishes, cabinets, panelling, glass, Formica, MDF, ceramic tile and metal can be primed without sanding or de-glossing.
THEORETICAL CONSUMPTION 7.5-10 m²/L/coat
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free of dust, dirt, excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper, adhesive or any contamination that may interfere with adhesion. If unsure, wash surface with an appropriate cleaning solution or solvent and rinse thoroughly. Remove any peeling and/or unsound coatings. Sand any remaining paint film edges smooth. When priming over stained areas, first attempt to remove as much of the stain as possible by washing, sanding, scraping, etc. Allow surface to dry completely before priming.
CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT / SPILLS
Clean up spills and paint drips with warm soap and water. Wipe up splatters before they dry. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s directions to clean spray equipment.
REMARKS
B-I-N Aqua can be tinted with up to 16ml of universal tint per litre. Tinting the primer toward the colour of the topcoat helps it hide in one coat.
