Thermoguard Wallcoat 30/60 Basecoat

Thermoguard Wallcoat can be specified as part of a system to achieve certification of 30 & 60 minutes on Plasterboard and Cement board subject to a site survey and issuing of a Thermoguard Specification. Wallcoat forms part of a coloured intumescent paint system for interior plasterboard and cement board ceilings and wall surfaces. Sufficient amounts of product need to be purchased and applied to ensure protection is achieved in line with Thermoguards recommendations to the respective area in question.

To achieve 30 or 60mins + BS EN Class B s1 d0 and Class 0 to unpainted plasterboard or cement board or boards painted with sound, firmly adhering paint please contact Thermoguard for a specification.

System (Interior Use Only)
To achieve 30 or 60mins + BS EN Class B s1 d0 and Class 0 to sound plasterboard/cement board unpainted or painted with sound, firmly adhering* paints systems;
Apply 3 coats of Thermoguard Wallcoat @ 4.2m² per kg/per coat
Followed by 1 coat** of Thermoguard Wallcoat Smoke & Flame Retardant Topcoat Eggshell or Matt
**2 coats of Thermoguard Wallcoat Smoke & Flame Retardant Topcoat may be required for strong/dark colours - Thermoguard Wallcoat will be provided in a suitable undercoat shade to aid topcoat opacity unless instructed otherwise.

Hard or smooth paints must be thoroughly abraded to provide a key. Ensure surfaces are dry & free from contamination.

Pack Sizes: 5kg and 20kg
Coverage: Follow on-can guide to coverage, do not overspread as this compromises the system and results in non-compliance and inability to certify.
Drying Times: In normal conditions touch dry one hour. Overpaintable with Wallcoat Anti-Microbial SFR after 4 hours.
Application conditions: Min 8°C max 30°C. Max relative humidity: 75%. Surface should be at least 3°C above the dew point, free from condensation
Typical Use: First part of a system for use as an intumescent basecoat on walls & ceiling

VOC Content: Low Voc. Limit for this product (cat A/i) is 140 g/l. This product contains just 16 g/lv
COMPOSITION: Catalytic powder, expansion agent, insulating char former, char hardeners & fibres Binder: Fire protection adhesive grade rapid reaction acrylic resin. Water based

Preparation

All surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove all possible surface contaminates such as grease, smoke residues, silicates etc. Seal water-stain risks with stain blocking sealer suitable to overcoat with water-based acrylic paints
Abrade hard or smooth surfaces with wetted 120 grit wet-or dry abrasive or dust extracting abrader. Rinse off slurry while still damp. When dry, remove any loose or suspect material back to firm edge.
Fill and repair any damage to the substrate using a good quality remedial filler

Application

Apply one coat of Thermoguard Wallcoat Insulating Basecoat
To be overcoated with Wallcoat Anti-Microbial Smoke & Flame Retardant
Apply at rate stated on can or specification to protect surfaces & enable project Certification
Brush & Roller: Woven fabric roller sleeves and synthetic bristle brushes
Spray: Pressure Pot & Gun conventional unit with small compressor: Ensure all traces of solvent flushed out Thin 5 > 10% with water to spray viscosity. Adjust fluid flow & air flow as normal for acrylic emulsion paint OR Airless Graco 1500, 3500 or equivalent. 3/8” line, 30 mesh filter on machine, no filter in gun. 521,523, 621 or 623 tip. Ensure coverage is applied as per can i.e., 25 sqm can covers 25 sqm

Certification: Once the works are complete the relevant certification can be applied for via the Thermoguard website. Please state any specification number to assist

Cleaning: Return as much unused material to its original container as possible. Wash brushes rollers and guns with clean waters immediately following use.

Do not store this product in cold temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C.
