PPG Sigma Steelguard 549 (FM 549) White 20L
PPG Sigma Steelguard 549 (FM 549) is a one component, thin film, intumescent coating which gives structural steel 120 minutes of protection against cellulosic fires.
Steelguard 549 is solvent based, quick drying, and is suitable for dry, internal environments without a protective topcoat. It is good for on-site or off-site application in an industrial environment.
Steelguard 549 is weather resistant for up to 12 months without a topcoat, provided it is not immersed in water or exposed to high humidity.
It can be applied at up to 1500 microns DFT in a single coat and comes in a white, matt finish. It should not be applied below 5C or above 50C or it may not properly adhere to the surface.
Application (at 20C):
- Stir well before use
- Apply with airless spray (brush or roller for small areas only)
- Touch dry: 30 minutes
- Recoatable: 6 hours
- Coverage: 0.97m2 per litre at 700 microns
- Volume solids: 68%
- Recommended dry film thickness: 200-1500 microns per coat
- Recommended thinner: 21-06 (normally no thinner required)
