PPG Sigma Steelguard 2458 is a one component, solvent based, acrylic topcoat for use as part of Steelguard intumescent fire coatings.

Steelguard 2458 is a fast drying protective finish which protects steel surfaces and prevents damage. It is designed for light industrial exposures or coastal environments above the water line on structural steel and is resistant to water and splash of mild chemicals.

Steelguard 2458 retains good colour and gloss levels and is available in white and various colours.

Application (at 20C):

  • Stir well before use
  • Apply with airless spray (brush or roller for touch up and repair only)
  • Touch dry: 1 hour
  • Recoatable: 4 hours
  • Coverage: 6.0m2 per litre at 75 microns
  • Volume solids: 45%
  • Recommended dry film thickness: 50-125 microns depending on system
  • Recommended thinner: 21-06 (Amercoat 65)
