Manor Black Bitumen 5ltr
Manor Black Bitumen is a high-performance water-resistant coating for use inside metal gutters, or as a low-cost damp proof coating in black on internal and external walls. Typically used on exteriors of tanks and pipe-work or any metal structure which will be placed underground e.g. Metal fence posts, external surfaces of pipes or steel supports. Concrete pilings and bridges can also be coated in Manor Bitumen.
Preparation;
Surfaces must be dry, sound and free from dirt, dust, rust and grease.
Steel; minimum requirement is to wire brush to ISO 8501-1:1988E St2 and apply two coats un-thinned directly onto the prepared steel. Allow 48 hours for the first coat to become hard dry before applying the second. Alternatively, after wire brushing as above, apply an anti-corrosive primer to enhance corrosion protection further and then two coats of Bitumen as above.
Typical film thickness; 100 microns wet and 50 microns dry
Theoretical coverage; 10 sq metres/litre at 100 microns wet film thickness.
Dry heat resistance; Softens at 40C.
Application; Spray, not recommended.
Brush/roller, apply evenly using a well loaded brush/roller and "lay off" to prevent runs & sags.
Film thickness;

Minimum 25microns 50microns
Maximum 60 microns 120microns
Drying times Touch dry Over-coating times min max.
10oC 8 hours 8 hours indefinite
20oC 4 hours 4 hours indefinite
Environmental conditions,
The air temperature should be at least 5C with a surface temperature 3C above the dew point and the relative humidity below 90% thus ensuring that the surface is dry and that condensation will not occur during application or drying. The drying times will be significantly extended in cold, damp conditions.
Note.
Bitumen coatings should not be over-coated with other paints, the black will bleed through and may cause the top coat to craze. When it is necessary to apply an oil-based paint over an old bituminous coating, a barrier coat must be used.
