New Heritage by Dulux is a luxurious collection of colours inspired by significant periods in the history of design. These 112 shades will help you add an authentic touch to your period property, whether you have a Georgian (Palladian, Adam and Regency styles), Victorian (Gothic Revival, Arts & Crafts and Queen Anne) or Edwardian (Art Deco) home.
However, you don’t need a period home to make the most of Dulux Heritage, because this range offers the perfect combination of authentic historical and classic contemporary colours to help you create interiors that are stylish, elegant and atmospheric. And just because you have a Victorian home there is no reason why you cannot decorate it using Georgian colours – Heritage by Dulux is ideal for those who want a beautiful home regardless of its age or style. Create the look you desire
Originally created in 1990, Dulux has relaunched the range to make it easier to build your colour scheme. The colours in the palette flow through the spectrum from left to right, while each column includes two pale, two mid and two deep tones, with the perfect white to complement them at the bottom.
Pale tones offer a hint of colour for a light and airy feel, or can be used to gently lift ceilings and woodwork against deep or mid tones. Choose a mid tone to create a cosy and comfortable space. They go beautifully with white or a paler tone of the same colour for a softer look. Deep tones make an impact if you paint one colour on all walls, or use one to enhance a focal point and create a feature. The Heritage whites have been specially selected to coordinate with the other tones in the same column of colour, whether for your woodwork, walls or ceilings.
How to choose
The easiest way to use the chart is to pick one dominant colour, for your walls for example, and team it with the white at the bottom of the same column, for use on your skirting, door frames or accessories such as chairs.
For a classic elegant look, pick one main colour for the room and use the other shades from that column to decorate other elements or for your accessories. Colours in the columns next to each other can also be used to create a subtle layered effect – choose from two or three columns next to each other.
Flexibility
The 112 colours in Dulux Heritage can be mixed into a wide range of paint, suitable for walls, woodwork and even furniture, and in a variety of finishes, such as matt, eggshell or gloss for example.
